Can-do goal
You can hear, read and type ま・み・む・め・も・や・ゆ・よ without answer choices.
ひらがな基礎:ま行・や行
Click each character, listen, and imitate the sound. Then cover the romaji and retrieve it from memory.
Pronunciation focus
The modern y-row contains only や, ゆ and よ. Notice the shape contrast between め and ぬ.
Form and handwriting
- ま: three horizontal/vertical movements followed by a loop.
- み: keep the central curve open and the final mark distinct.
- む: the loop sits low with a separate finishing mark.
- め: the crossing curve has no final loop-tail like ぬ.
- も: two short horizontals cross the long curved stroke.
- や: three separated strokes with an open centre.
- ゆ: the inner vertical sits inside the broad outer curve.
- よ: two short upper strokes and a lower loop.
Write each character slowly three times, then once from memory. Compare structure and stroke direction rather than decorative font thickness.
Mixed retrieval
The practice screen mixes roughly 70% current targets with 30% characters from mastered earlier groups. Practise both directions: character to sound and sound to character.
Mastery task
Complete recognition, listening and active recall practice. Each mode requires at least five attempts and 80% accuracy. Review the group again tomorrow before treating it as stable knowledge.
