Put から after the reason. In conversation, んです can present background or invite an explanation.

A：どうして来なかったんですか。
B：熱があったからです。

Build: I will rest because I am tired. Then adapt it with your own information and say it aloud.

Meaning: Give a reason or invite background information.

Build it: reason + からです / explanatory plain form + んです

When to use it: から marks a reason; んです frames explanatory background.

熱があったからです。
